Notifications and alerts

Where Ordinary's notifications appear, which events send one — ad data stopping, page traffic drops, sync results — and which alerts come by email.

Notifications are available on every plan. Alerts about an ad platform need that integration connected.

The bell

The bell icon in the top bar shows a red dot when you have unread notifications, and plays a short chime when a new one arrives. Click it to see your 10 most recent, each with a title, a short message and how long ago it happened.

  • Click a notification to mark it read and open what it’s about.
  • Mark all as read clears the red dot.
  • View all opens the Notifications page.

The Notifications page

The Notifications page lists up to 100 notifications for the current organization, newest first, with Mark all as read at the top. Notifications that link somewhere show View. There are no filters or search. You see your own notifications for the organization you’re in.

What sends a notification

Ad data stopped

If Ordinary hasn’t seen any Meta Ads or Google Ads spend for several days while the connection itself looks healthy, every organization admin gets a notification and an email:

  • “No recent Meta Ads data” (or Google Ads), saying when spend was last seen. If spend has never arrived, it says so.
  • If you paused your campaigns, no action is needed. Otherwise check the connection on Settings → Meta or Settings → Google.

It’s sent once per quiet spell, not every day.

Page traffic drops

You can ask to be told when traffic to a specific page falls. Open the page’s report in Page Performance and click the bell in its header (“Alert me when traffic to this page drops”). In Alert me about this page, choose:

  • Tell me when traffic falls — below 20%, 40%, 60% or 80% of normal, where normal is the page’s own average over the previous four weeks.
  • …and stays there for — 7, 14 (default) or 28 days.
  • Where to send it — Notifications in Ordinary, or Notifications and email to me.

Click Turn on. Ordinary checks daily and sends “Traffic to [page] has dropped” once per drop, with the page’s recent and usual weekly visitors. The alert re-arms once traffic recovers. Pages need steady traffic to have a reliable baseline. Change or remove the alert from the same bell (Save, Turn off). Alerts are per person.

Syncs you started

When you start a sync yourself — for example an order sync — you get a notification when it finishes: “[Sync] completed”, or “[Sync] failed” if it didn’t recover. Scheduled background syncs don’t send notifications.

Service provider updates

When a new service provider starts processing data on your behalf, everyone in the organization gets a “Sub-processor update” notification linking to the list.

Alerts that come by email

Some alerts come by email rather than the bell:

  • Reconnect needed — when Meta, Google Ads, Klaviyo, Amazon or Shopify stops accepting Ordinary’s access, admins get “Action needed: reconnect your [integration] connection in Ordinary” with a button to reconnect. The integration’s settings card also shows Reconnect required.
  • A test stopped running — when an A/B test stops running unexpectedly.
  • Billing — payment failed or succeeded, plan changes, the end of a subscription, and the end of an Advanced trial.

Notification emails come from notifications@tryordinary.com.
